15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
1 John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Jesus became the shore for the disciples and had to depart for them to discover new oceans.
In baseball, you cannot steal second base with one foot on first.
For a trapeze artist to swing to the other side they have to let go the rope that brings them to a point to grab the next rope in order to continue moving forward.
In order to discover new oceans we must first have the courage to lose sight of the shores
Shores may be represented by our ability, aptitude, attitude, wealth, health, friends, beliefs, and rituals.
Ways to lose sight of the shores
See humanity as one big family and through the Spirit of discernment see strangers are simply friends you have not met yet.
Stay spiritually curious and obedient
See the difference between being cured and being healed
See your relationship with God through the lens of spirituality and not simply religion
Overcome your fear by seeing your calling to bring love into your new ocean
God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, sound discipline
